Losing weight is not easy. If losing weight is as easy as taking vitamin, mineral, and calcium supplements, we could all sit back, do nothing and just let the supplements melt away the fats. However, no matter how much we like it, in reality, things like that do not happen. Losing weight isn’t that simple.
You need the right diet program like the HCG Diet to lose weight. Aside from choosing the right program, having the right mindset is also vital for the overall success of the program.
Is there a need to take supplements during the HCG Diet?
According to Dr. Simeons, the original creator of the HCG diet, only the actual fat is burned when dieters lose pounds of fat. All the vitamins, mineral and protein present in the blood are fed back into the body. In other words, your body is getting all the nutrients it needs from the stored fats and from the healthy foods you are eating.
So, taking vitamin supplements while on hcg shots is unnecessary, rather it’s optional. If you choose to incorporate vitamin supplements into your diet, keep in mind that it could lessen the full result of the HCG Diet. As much as possible, avoid taking vitamins and calcium supplements during the very low-calorie diet phase. You may resume taking your supplements three days after your last shot of hormone as it takes three days for the hormone to leave your body.
But then again, if there is a need for you to take your dietary supplements like, for example, you are having some issue with your teeth, you may take vitamin D and calcium supplements. Or if you are having colds, you may take vitamin C. Make sure that you take only the non-oily, non-capsule form. There must be no other added nutritional values like carbs, calories, and sugar.
What and what not to take
Loading Days: Loading days are all about preparing and cleansing your body. You have two days to load high-calorie foods. You can include teas, laxatives, and apple cider vinegar to do the cleansing. Don’t forget water, as water is best for cleansing.
500 calorie Phase: Dietary supplement at this phase is recommended ONLY if necessary. Again, your body will get all the nutrients it needs from the stored fats and from the healthy foods you are eating. Besides, some vitamins can interfere with how your body works in melting the fats away, and they could even slow down your weight loss results. Vitamins allowed includes:
- Vitamin A– Vitamin A is not a weight loss supplement, but your liver needs vitamin A to vitamin A to function properly. Your liver needs to work an extra mile in breaking down fats and in cleansing your body.
- Vitamin B- Vitamin B can give you an energy boost, so you can lose more.
- Vitamin C– Vitamin C can enhance your immunity level. Take more vitamin C during the maintenance phase.
- Vitamin E– Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant, and you can get more of it from the green leafy veggies you eat.
- Vitamin K – It has no direct effect on weight loss, but you need it for blood coagulation.
